Section NE-2A is pleased to announce the newly elected Section Officers for the 2011-2012 term. Tom Donlon (Tschitani) has been elected as Section Chief. Dan Gallup (Owaneco) and Connor Morabito (Half Moon) have been elected as Section Vice Chiefs, and Neil Harris (Owaneco) and Chris Zillig (Nacha Nimat) have been elected Section Secretaries. Congratulations, and best wishes for a successful year! In addition, Area Director David Borchard has appointed Bill Chin (Owaneco) as the new Section Adviser. Dan O’Rourke (Pocumtuc) and Sherri Raco (Nacha Nimat) have been reappointed as Associate Section Advisers in the new NE-2A. Elsie Hemmings (Owaneco) has been appointed as the Section Staff Adviser.
Following the Northeast Region’s recent realignment of the Areas, the Order of the Arrow Sections will similarly be realigning to reflect these changes. As a result, Section NE-2A will be losing some of our friends and welcoming new brothers to our circle. Ajapeu Lodge of the Green Mountain Council and Kittan Lodge of the Twin Rivers Council will be moving to Section NE-3B, Achewon Netopalis of the Greenwich Council will be moving to the newly formed NE-2B, and Black Eagle Lodge of the Transatlantic Council will be moving to Section NE-6A. We also welcome our Brothers from Nacha Nimat Lodge of the Hudson Valley Council and Half Moon Lodge of the Rip Van Winkle Council to NE-2A. We wish our friends well and hope for an exciting 2012!
The CoC and walk-through IS STILL on April 17th at Chesterfield Scout Reservation. We have only changed the time, instead of starting at 1PM, we will begin at 11:30AM. At 11:30 AM, lunch will be served, the CoC and walk-through will follow. We hope to see you all there!
The April COC, originally scheduled for April 17th is now confirmed for that date, starting at 1:00. The meeting will be held at Chesterfield Scout Reservation in Chesterfield, Massachusetts. The meeting will go through the camp to provide a better glimpse of what to expect for conclave. All CVC’s and arrowmen attending conclave are encouraged to attend and give their input.
Section NE-2A would like to congratulate Travis Cunningham on his election as the 2011 Northeast Region Chief! In this role, Travis will travel around the region representing the OA and will provide leadership over the National Leadership Seminar, National Lodge Adviser Training Seminar, and Section Officers Seminar programs in 2011. Travis previously served as Section Chief of NE-4A and hails from the Gyantwachia Lodge of Chief Cornplanter Council. Travis is studying wildlife biol0gy at Penn State University. On behalf of the Section, we wish Travis the best of luck this year in his new role and look forward to seeing him during the year!
The time is already upon us! The 2011 Section NE-2A Quality Lodge Summit is right around the corner. The purpose of the Quality Lodge Summit is to prepare the Lodge Leadership to lead their Lodges to Quality Lodge status. The sessions are selected based on previous years Quality Lodge petitions and the expressed needs of the Lodges. The training staff is selected from across the region and represents some of the most diverse experience in our Order. Register soon because the registration deadline is already fast approaching! Section Chief Loren Murphy has announced that the first Council of Chiefs meeting of the 2010-2011 year will be held on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Connecticut Rivers Council Service Center (60 Darlin Street, East Hartford, CT). The meeting will begin at 12:30pm and lunch will be provided. The Section Officers have a full agenda planned for the COC. Each Lodge should be represented by the Key Three. Other interested youth and adult Arrowmen are welcome to attend.
Over 300 Arrowmen have gathered at Camp Sequassen in New Hartford, CT for the 2010 Section NE-2A Conclave, “A Journey Through Time.” Friday night kicked off with an opening show and band and a welcome message from Section Chief Chris McCloskey. The Section is also proud to host National Chief Brad Lichota this weekend. Arrowmen in attendance are heading to a variety of training cells this morning and the afternoon will bring competitions, games, and activities. Stay tuned for more updates throughout the weekend!
On January 31, Section NE-2A hosted its first ever Quality Lodge Summit at the B.U. Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, MA. Over 100 Arrowmen from around the Section gathered to help develop stronger Lodges through a series of training sessions aimed at the Quality Lodge requirements. The Section also hosted its second Council of Chiefs meeting of the year and continued to plan for the 2010 Conclave at Camp Sequassen. On behalf of the Section, thanks to Jacob LaValley, Section Vice Chief and Hunter McCormick, Section Training Adviser for putting together the QLS program. And thanks to all of the staff and trainers at the QLS: Chris McCloskey, Denis Pelletier, Chris Gardner, Mike O’Keeffe, Bill Chin, Ian Nichol, Tom Sinkewicz, Mike Alicea, Pat Boyd, Dan O’Rourke, Tom Pankosky, Ed McLaughlin, and Mike Pannone. And a very special thanks to Deb Miclette from Connecticut Rivers Council for coordinating registration and the Tanglewood Institute for their hospitality.
